I took a quiz in my Better Homes and Gardens magazine on Monday.
(Who knew they had quizzes?)
Unfortunately, according to the three-question quiz, I am a pessimist.
I had no idea.

The Lost Boys
At Jeremy's suggestion, we rented and watched The Lost Boys.
Craptastic!
Keifer Sutherland as a bleach-blond vampire, the two Coreys, amazing 80's style, and the Stranger song. I don't know how I haven't seen this movie before. It was totally amazing.

So Proud
Victor has spelled his first word.
Zoo.
The word is zoo, and he told me that it is spelled with a Z and two Os. The medium is refrigerator magnets. The canvas is the refrigerator. The inspiration, no doubt, is excellent parents.
Way to go, Victor.

It's Lincoln's Birthday!
And it's my brother Alex's birthday, too.
Here are some things I like about Alex.
1. Alex is tender. He does not injure people.
2. Alex has good ideas.
3. Alex once threw rocks at my bedroom window so I could let him into the house.
4. When Alex gets into something, he really gets into it.
5. When Alex was a teeny tot he had huge red cheeks.
6. I can use Alex's index finger as an example of why my boys must be careful with big rocks.
7. Alex once ran after and chastised some naughty boys who threw a snowball at the truck I was driving.
8. Alex tries new things.
9. Alex used to sit on a big rock and just think when he delivered newspapers.
10. Alex married Molly, and she is terrific!

Valentines, part 3
Victor's preschool class held its Valentine's Day party today. I was a little nervous because Victor spent most of yesterday afternoon telling me, with a very sad face, that he did not want any valentines. But he very cheerfully decorated his valentines for his classmates.
We ended up sending in Pixar-character Valentines and M&Ms. I am grateful for the candy recommendation, because all of the other students sent candy, too. One boy sent candy AND a valentine AND a pencil. Two girls wrote their own names. Most impressive to me was the pipe cleaner heart attaching one valentine to its accompanying candy.
Thank you, Valentine's Day Advisers, for protecting Victor's coolness. But do you think at least one other mom would have felt liberated if I had sent a candy-less valentine? I could have started a trend!

Mystery
Today's mystery sound from the kitchen turned out to be Victor pouring himself a glass of honey.
