Hooray for Pie

Happy Anniversary to Elizabeth and Peter!

We're so glad you're part of our family.

May you celebrate many more years of pie-eating.

Well thanks! You and Katie seem to have better memories than I do.

Yesterday Peter leaned over in church and said, "Do you know what today is?" I told him I didn't and he said, "It's Oct. 26." I just looked at him, confused. He then said, "If today is Oct. 26, do you know what tomorrow is?" I still had no clue what he was getting at. When he reminded me that it was our anniversary, I was rather surprised.

Then today I didn't think about it until I got a "happy anniversary" text from Peter at 10am.

How silly, we've been married 2 years and we already have troubles remembering our anniversary.

I think I'll ditch out of work early and bake him a pie. He'll be at a soccer game tonight, but we can eat it tomorrow.

I've been pondering this today, and I think the reason it isn't any big deal is that we already do whatever we want every night. With no children, we don't need a special occasion, such as our anniversary, to do something fun. Maybe the longer we're married the more we'll care about that stuff. Or maybe our weekend at Stein Eriksson last anniversary will last us a few years...
